Hi, I’m Megan
I’m the heart and hands behind Thimble & Bloom.
After hitting pause on a fast-paced career that left me feeling frayed, I dusted off my sewing machine and found myself drawn back to the quiet charm of quilting. What began as a way to slow down grew into something more — a fresh sense of purpose and a creative spark I hadn’t felt in years.
I couldn’t keep it to myself. Through patterns, inspiration, and a soft place to land, I hope to help others discover that same kind of joy.
However you got here, I’m so glad you did.
This is where comfort grows and creativity blooms.
A Threaded Path…
The First Stitch
My sewing story began in 8th grade home economics class, when I made a neon lime green duffel bag that, to this day, is still going strong! While I didn’t dive into sewing right away, that little bag remained sturdy, bright, and surprisingly useful. I didn’t realize it then, but I had sewn the first page of a story that was still unfolding.
Picking Up the Thread Again
Years later, in 2016, I asked my mom if I could borrow her old sewing machine. I had a vision for handmade Christmas gifts — rice heating pads and little hand warmers stitched with love. That same Christmas, I was gifted a new sewing machine of my own, and I decided my first big project would be a quilt for my mom’s birthday in March.
That quilt turned into something more than just a gift. It became a beginning.
From Gifts to Growth
Quilting quickly became my love language. Over the years, I made quilts for birthdays, graduations, baby showers — and just because. But it took eight years before I finally finished one for myself. That quilt was also my first hand-quilted piece, a quiet, meditative process that felt both new and deeply familiar.
A Slower, Softer Chapter
In the stillness that followed stepping away from work, I found myself drawn again to my favorite creative outlet. Quilting became a way to breathe, reconnect, and feel inspired again. I began dreaming up patterns and ideas not just for myself, but to share with others who might also be seeking comfort and creating something from the heart.
Why Thimble & Bloom?
Thimble & Bloom took root in the belief that even the smallest stitches can grow into something lasting and meaningful. Whether you're brand new to sewing or an experienced quilter, I hope you find something here that encourages you to let your creativity flourish.
